Effective governance is the foundation for successful self-regulation across the FE system.

It must be based on a clear and nationally shared understanding of its role and responsibilities and how it relates to college management and outside agencies such as the Learning and Skills Council (LSC).

Going forward, the sector will require appropriate governance arrangements which strengthen the strategic role of college governing boards and enable colleges to work through a range of partnerships in a new dynamic.
