LSC Agenda for Change (2004)

LSC Agenda for Change (2004)

In parallel with the review of the future role of further education colleges undertaken by Sir Andrew Foster (the Foster review), the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) has also led a major drive for the transformation of the further education sector.

The LSC agenda for change focuses on six key themes that emerged from regional roadshows held with college principals and governors during summer 2004. The six themes are:

  1. Skills and Employers – how to help colleges best meet the needs of employers and the economy
  2. Quality – how best to build a sector fully committed to quality and delivery to the highest standards throughout
  3. Funding – a radical overhaul of the LSC funding methodology
  4. Business Excellence – driving up the efficiency of the sector
  5. Data – to revise and simplify systems for data management in colleges
  6. Reputation – the priority to highlight the major contribution that further education makes to the delivery of education, training and skills, and the economy.

The proposals on each of these themes can be viewed in the LSC's Agenda for Change prospectus.
