governance across the FE system

governance across the FE system

The Governance Good Practice Guide (GGPG) focuses on governance in the further education (FE) sector.

However, other providers will also find the GGPG useful because although other legal and regulatory frameworks may apply, the general principles and practice of good governance remain consistent and relevant.

Such providers include voluntary groups, trusts, private and limited companies, charities, special designated colleges, denominational colleges, work-based learning provider organisations.

These providers may have different relationships with government, and accountability may be to shareholders and customers rather than to the public, stakeholders and customers. However, ultimately all providers involved in the FE system, for profit and non-profit alike, form part of the system's accountability. Each one needs to provide evidence of quality provision and demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement in order to provide the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) with assurance to secure government funding.
