For your own research and purposes CEL can provide you with access to a rich collection of resources.

The CEL has carefully selected a new online library and resource provider for the exclusive use of CEL's staff, associate consultants and clients. The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) is contracted to provide access to their Management Direct Portal for all those authorised by CEL.

The CMI Management Direct Portal is a rich source of resources for leaders and managers and one of the largest online management libraries in the UK. Features of the CMI portal are:

  • Five minute, 20 minute and extended briefings on leadership and management topics
  • Podcasts and leader videos, such as, Warren Bennis on how human capital is a competitive advantage
  • Thinkers: a summary of the work and publications of key thinkers in leadership and management
  • Access to the Harvard Business Review and many more leadership and management journals
  • Management models, such as, Belbin's team roles and Crosby's four absolutes of quality
  • E-learning modules and workbooks
  • Self assessment tools.

How to register for the online library

If you previously had access to the VLRC, or are new to registering for CEL's online library you will need to follow the instructions below:

  1. Email your name, contact details, educational institution and CEL programme area that you are interested in to enquiries@centreforexcellence.org.uk requesting a unique activation code for the CMI portal.
  2. Once you have your unique activation code you will have to register at http://managementdirect.managers.org.uk/CEL assigning yourself a username and password.
