main aims of IS There are three main aims: the first focuses on learners, the second on employers and the third on the further education system. Aim 1

| Training provision meets employers' business needs and employers can recruit people with the vocational skills and employability skills needed to increase productivity. | Aim 3
| The further education system continuously improves so that collegesand providers aspire to and achieve excellence, and no provision is unsatisfactory. | For each of these three aims, the Improvement Strategy outlines the current position and identifies the objectives to support the individual aims. |
